    New EU rules to ensure transfers of euros in maximum 10 seconds

    Starting around 18.00, plenary will review with Commissioner McGuinnes a draft law –already agreed with the Council – to ensure transfers arrive immediately into the bank accounts of retail customers and businesses across the EU. The final plenary vote will take place on Wednesday.

    No more impunity for reckless drivers in the EU

    From around 20.00, MEPs will discuss with Commissioner Vălean a legislative proposal to guarantee that when a driver loses their license in a member state due to a serious offence the sanction will be applicable across all EU countries. Plenary is set to vote on its first-reading position on the proposal on Tuesday.

    In brief

    Italian Ilaria Salis and other prisoners in Hungarian jails. Immediately after the opening of the session today, MEPs will hold a brief debate with the Commission about the situation of people imprisoned in Hungary, and in particular the case of Italian national Ilaria Salis.

    Unfair competition faced by the EU’s solar industry. From around 18.45, MEPs will debate with Commissioner McGuinness the challenges faced by European solar panel manufacturers due to imports entering the EU market at lower prices.

    Situation in Haiti. Later in the evening, MEPs will assess the situation in Haiti on the eve of the deployment of a United Nations Multinational Security Support Mission.
