Journalists can express their interest in conducting interviews with the representatives of the Iranian movement Woman, Life, Freedom who are expected to be present at the award ceremony in the European Parliament in Strasbourg, by registering via this EU survey link by Wednesday 6 December at 18.00 CET at the latest. Interpretation in English will be provided.

– Afsoon Najafi, Iranian women’s rights defender;
– Mersedeh Shahinkar, Iranian women’s rights defender.
Representatives of the other finalists for the 2023 Sakharov Prize will also be in Strasbourg during the award ceremony week and available for interviews:
– Women fighting for a free, safe and legal abortion: Justyna Wydrzyńska (Poland); Colleen McNicholas, (United States);
– Padre Uriel Vallejos, Representative of Monseñor Rolando Álvarez Lagos (Nicaragua) and Sara Henriquez, human rights and women’s rights activist, Representative of Vilma Nuñez de Escorcia (Nicaragua).
Please note that making a request does not guarantee you will be granted an interview. You will receive confirmation of whether or not you have been given an interview slot only on Friday 8 December, not earlier.
Interviews will take place on Tuesday 12 December in the afternoon.
