    (PRESS RELEASE) ESPOO, 20-Jun-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Hindalco Industries Limited, a prominent global player in aluminum and copper production and part of the Aditya Birla Group, has awarded Metso a significant contract to establish a state-of-the-art electronic waste recycling facility near their Birla copper unit in Pakhajan, Gujarat, India. This greenfield project marks India’s first such facility and is slated to annually produce 50,000 metric tons of low-carbon copper.

    The undisclosed majority of the order’s value, booked in the Minerals segment’s second-quarter 2024 orders received, encompasses Metso’s delivery scope, which includes three KaldoTM furnaces, an anode furnace, an anode casting shop, gas cleaning systems, and associated equipment. Metso will also handle basic engineering for the plant, aiming for construction and commissioning within two years.
