Prime Minister De Croo to present the priorities of the Belgian Presidency
From 9.00 to 10.30, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo will outline to plenary the programme of activities of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU, running from 1 January to 30 June. A press conference by President Metsola and Prime Minister De Croo will take place at 10.45.

New rules to stop greenwashing and improve product labelling
In the afternoon, after the votes, plenary will review a draft directive –already agreed with the Council- to ban the use of misleading environmental claims and encourage producers to focus on more durable products, in a debate with Commissioner Reynders. The final vote on the legislation will take place on Wednesday, followed by a press conference with the rapporteur.

Humanitarian situation in Gaza
At 15.00, MEPs will debate with Commissioner Lenarčič and Belgian Foreign Affairs Minister Lahbib the humanitarian situation in Gaza, the need to reach a ceasefire, and the risks of escalation in the Middle East. A resolution will be put to a vote on Thursday.

Need for more EU military aid to Ukraine
In a debate at 10.30 with the Commission and the Belgian Presidency, MEPs are expected to call on the EU to live up to its commitments and deliver more military assistance to Ukraine. They are also set to urge EU heads of state or government to use the upcoming special summit to agree on a proposed €50 billion financial aid package for Ukraine.

In brief
Resurgence of neo-fascism. MEPs will discuss in the evening with Commissioner Johansson and Belgian Minister Lahbib how to prevent neo-fascism from resurfacing in Europe.
Fight against fraud. In the early afternoon, MEPs will review with Commissioner Reynders efforts to prevent fraud affecting the EU budget and discuss how to monitor the use of funds awarded to non-governmental organisations. The vote will take place on Wednesday.
Ecuador. In the evening, plenary will hold a debate with Commissioner Vălean and Belgian Minister Lahbib on recent developments and the state of emergency in Ecuador.

Starting at noon, plenary will vote, among others, on:
- new rules to cut emissions of fluorinated gases and ozone-depleting substances;
- the election of a Vice-President to replace former MEP Nicola Beer;
- the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II) and the Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation (MiFIR);
- the implementation of the Erasmus+, Creative Europe and Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values programmes for 2021-2027;
- competition policy – 2023 annual report;
- banking Union – 2023 annual report;
- the role of the European Parliament and its parliamentary diplomacy in the EU’s foreign and security policy.
