Venezuela: strengthening the resilience of vulnerable communities and structures

The ICRC provides humanitarian protection and assistance to people affected by armed violence in the country. During the first half of 2023, we worked to strengthen the capacities and knowledge of people in vulnerable situations. For example, a group of 99 young people from Petare began training in different skills and in entrepreneurship to improve their livelihoods; 332 health workers received training in the treatment of patients with advanced trauma, basic emergency care, first aid, among others; and 138 people participated in our workshops on safe behavior to stay safe before, during and after armed clashes.

All this work is achieved through the incredibly valuable support and feedback we receive from the communities, which allow us to offer a response adapted to their needs and that can improve their living conditions in the short, medium, and long term.
In these first six months of 2023 it has also been important to have the support of the Venezuelan Red Cross and especially from its volunteers. Their commitment, empathy and dedication help us to better understand the needs of the population, as well as the responses we can offer.
