Turning Disaster into Hope, The 9/11 Catalyst for Scientology’s Global Humanitarian Reach

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM, September 14, 2023/EINPresswire.com/ — As reported by The European Times, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers, a global movement initiated by Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard in 1973, have been making a significant impact worldwide, especially in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The European Times article highlighted the Volunteer Ministers’ motto, “Something can be done about it,” which has been their guiding principle in providing aid and assistance in various disaster-stricken areas worldwide. The 9/11 attacks marked a turning point for the movement, inspiring a surge of individuals to join and take action.

The European Times recounted the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, where over 800 Scientology Volunteer Ministers were present at the World Trade Center site, providing support to emergency workers. Their involvement extended throughout the entire eight-month rescue and recovery operation.

The New York Times had previously acknowledged the efforts of these volunteers, stating, “At any given time, there are over 100 Volunteer Ministers from the Church of Scientology around the remnants of the World Trade Center. On the day of the attack, they brought food for the workers… When rescue workers emerge from the debris, the ministers, identifiable by their T-shirts, strive to refocus the workers’ minds and rejuvenate their bodies.”

The European Times article also mentioned the praise from a New York Police Chief, who expressed his gratitude for the Volunteer Ministers’ energy and compassion at Ground Zero.

In response to the terror attacks, the Scientology ecclesiastical leader, Mr. David Miscavige, issued The Wake-Up Call, a directive that encouraged Scientologists worldwide to take action. This led to the rapid expansion of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers movement, ready to respond to disasters of any magnitude.

The Scientology Volunteer Ministers, recognized by their bright yellow T-shirts, have since become a beacon of help, whether at the sites of natural and man-made disasters or within their own communities.

Their creed, as quoted by The European Times, is: “A Volunteer Minister does not ignore the pain, evil, and injustice of existence. Instead, he is equipped to handle these issues and help others find relief from them and gain new personal strength.”

Mr. Hubbard developed the Scientology Tools for Life for the training of the Volunteer Minister. These free courses are available to anyone wishing to acquire these skills to assist themselves, their families, friends, and society. The Scientology Tools for Life training is available in 17 languages via the Scientology Website and the Volunteer Ministers website.
